Abstract:No one has hitherto succeeded in proving that every large integer can be written as the sum of eight cubes of primes, but if one relaxes the situation by allowing a prime with an almost prime (an integer having fewer prime factors), then the corresponding conclusions come accessible. I shall present some results in the latter direction, and talk about outlines of the proofs, which include some important techniques concerning application of the Hardy-Littlewood circle method.
